Business Affairs Integration Update

April 29, 2025

Dear Business Affairs,

Earlier today, Dr. Eighmy shared an email with our community about integration management and operational updates. I want to take this opportunity to share more about what these updates mean for Business Affairs, the timeline for this important work and how we are committed to supporting our teams throughout the process.

First, I want to emphasize that there are no changes to operations at this time, as we continue with phase one of integration. I will continue to lead Business Affairs at UTSA while additionally taking on oversight of the UTSA Integration Management Office (IMO), and Andrea Marks will continue to oversee operations, finance and administration at UT Health.

As we look toward the future state of our integrated institution, I am excited to share that my colleague Andrea will assume leadership over business and administrative operations for our future merged university. While this transition is bittersweet for me, I know that the division of Business Affairs is truly positioned for success under Andrea’s leadership, and this change will ensure I can focus the necessary energy on creating the IMO and continuing work on enterprise development and transformation for our world-class institution.

Andrea has an incredible career spanning over 30 years at UT Health and is excited to begin the process of functional discovery for Business Affairs. She’s already begun listening sessions with leaders at both UTSA and UT Health and will continue with a deliberate process to learn about the current state of operations and business functions.

Planning, assessment and development of the proposed operations model to support the new university will take several months and is expected to be complete in spring 2026. Regular updates will be provided during this time frame to ensure that our valued employees understand the process and outcomes.

As we navigate the period of change ahead, I want to express my sincere gratitude for your continued dedication and support. We are fully confident that our teams at UTSA and UT Health will come together to build a visionary organization to support our new integrated institution.

Sincerely,
