Volunteer Time as Payment for Parking Citations

Campus Services offers the opportunity to use volunteer hours as an alternative payment for student parking citations. Immobilized (booted) vehicles and associated citations are not eligible for payment with volunteer time.

Using Volunteer Time for Citation Payment

Students can use volunteer time for full or partial citation payment. When considering this option, keep the following important information in mind:

  • Volunteer hours are valid only for citations issued at $100 or less.
  • Volunteer hours cannot be applied to moving violations.
  • A maximum of 12 volunteer hours will be accepted per academic year.
  • Volunteer hours must be completed for a nonprofit organization that has 501(c)(3) status.
  • One hour of volunteer time equals $25. Volunteer time is measured in full hours only, and excess hours do not apply as financial credits.
  • If your total volunteer time only covers part of your citation cost, you will receive additional instructions to complete payment. Citations are marked as paid and any applicable holds are removed only after full payment is received.
  • You have 60 days to complete and submit your volunteer hours. The 60-day period begins on the citation date. If you file a first appeal, the 60-day period begins on the date your appeal is decided.
  • Late fees accrue as usual.
