Updates and Accomplishments

Classroom Upgrades
- In August 2022, Real Estate, Construction and Planning completed construction on Phase II of the classroom upgrade project, with minor technology upgrades extending throughout the fall semester.
Dining
- In August 2022, UTSA Dining announced new locations Freshens and Rising Roll, which opened for the fall 2022 semester.
- In fall 2022, Campus Services rolled out the Grubhub mobile app on campus, allowing the campus to save time in line for on-campus retail dining locations.
- In spring 2023, UTSA Dining partnered with The Eatery, opening the chef-inspired dining option at San Pedro I.
- In spring 2025, UTSA Dining installed new Farmer’s Fridge smart refrigerators at the Main and Southwest Campuses offering access to fresh meals.
- In spring 2025, UTSA Dining opened Union Perk, a themed coffee shop in the Student Union on the Main Campus.
- In spring 2025, Campus Services and UTSA Dining launched a Campus Dining Experience Assessment, committed to supporting the needs of the campus through survey feedback and focus groups.
Downtown Expansion
- In August 2022, UTSA announced substantial completion of San Pedro I. A grand opening ceremony was hosted in January 2023.
- In fall 2022, UTSA successfully closed on the property at 702 Dolorosa. The university purchased this property from the City of San Antonio, which reflects continued intentionality for downtown growth.
- In fall 2022, the university conducted successful major capital project programming and a design kick-off for San Pedro II.
- In fall 2023, San Pedro I was awarded the prestigious Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification.
- In fall 2023, groundbreaking and construction began on San Pedro II, the Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Careers building at 622 Dolorosa.
- In March 2025, Real Estate and Property Management completed the purchase of approximately 2.195 acres of land at One Riverwalk Place in downtown San Antonio.
Downtown Safety
- In January 2023, UTSA Public Safety announced a new partnership with Centro San Antonio to enhance the wide range of services and resources that support a safe, clean and welcoming campus experience.
- In February 2024, UTSA Public Safety launched a new website, providing enhanced information to services and resources to the community.
Repairs
- In fall 2022, a refresh of the Campus Recreation center courts was successfully completed.
- In fall 2022, Main Building Phase I was successfully completed.
- In fall 2022, UTSA won the UT System Fall into Fitness Challenge. With a total of just under 4 million steps recorded, UTSA took first place in the medium institution category in the challenge.
Other
- In fall 2022, Campus Services implemented the ParkMobile app, allowing parkers to easily find and pay for hourly parking on campus.
- In August 2023, construction began on Blanco Hall. The new community will accommodate 594 undergraduate students in a mix of single- and double-bed units, spanning 162,500 square feet at the intersection of Barshop Blvd. and Tobin Ave. on a northwest corner of the Main Campus.
- In January 2025, Real Estate and Property Management broke ground on the Athletics Volleyball and Basketball Training Facility at Park West.
