REACT-STEM Benefits

Financial Assistance

Scholarship support of up to $10,000 per year, for up to three years.

Honors College

REACT Scholars are integrated into the Honors College. Honors College housing is imbued with academic enrichment and social activities aimed at high performing students. Enhanced advising and early enrollment by the Honors College enable students to assemble individualized degree plans and enter courses at optimal times for degree progress.

Campus Student Support Services

Representatives from the UTSA Physical and Virtual Library, the Tomás Rivera Center for Student Success, and the UTSA Counseling Center visit the REACT Scholars during Strong Transitions meetings to educate students on available resources.

Individual Mentoring with UTSA Faculty

REACT Scholars meet with a faculty mentor to jointly construct a Professional Development Plan and to discuss expectations and how to avoid common pitfalls.

Peer Mentoring

Incoming REACT Scholars are paired with a more advanced Scholar or well-established student researcher to assist with the transition to UTSA. This peer mentor provides advice, mentoring, and support for academic progress.

Career and Research Skills Preparation

REACT Scholars participate in professional development activities. Seminars, workshops, and field trips provide the opportunity to communicate and interact with local scientists as well as select faculty.
