Associate Professor, Accounting
Harrison Liu’s research focuses on financial accounting with an emphasis on short selling, corporate share repurchases, insider trading in financial markets, executive compensation, corporate governance, sustainability accounting, and audit risks.
His research has been published in top-tier journals such as Financial Accountability and Management, Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, the Journal of Corporate Finance, the Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, and the Journal of Accounting and Public Policy. He has also served as a reviewer for academic journals such as the Journal of Corporate Finance, the Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, the Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, Quarterly Review of Economics and Finance, and Transactions on Engineering Management.
Liu has been an active member of the university since joining UTSA in 2012. He is currently chair of the Ph.D. Programs Committee for the Carlos Alvarez College of Business and was a member of the Core Facilities Advisory Board for the UTSA Office for Research, Economic Development, and Knowledge Enterprise (REDKE). He is a member and former chair of the accounting Ph.D. program committee, a member of the accounting undergraduate degree program committee, and a member of the faculty review advisory committee within his department. He has also served as a co-chair or member on several doctoral dissertation committees.
Liu holds a doctorate in accounting from Texas A&M University and a doctorate in environmental engineering from the University of Houston.
