Associate Professor of Practice, Information Systems and Cyber Security
Marco Villarreal first joined UTSA faculty in 2018. He has served as chair of the undergraduate curriculum committee for the Department of Information Systems and Cyber Security, and is a member of the Alvarez College of Business’ Undergraduate Committee. He has also worked as an academic advisor for undergraduate students in his college.
Villarreal’s research has been featured in refereed journals such as the International Journal of Business and Systems Research and the International Journal of Electronic Finance. He has also presented his work at over 20 different conferences and symposia, including the Proceedings of the Southwest Decision Sciences Institute (SWDSI), the Texas A&M University Technology Summit, and the 22nd Annual Western Hemispheric Trade Conference.
He is an active member of the Association for Information Systems (AIS), the Decision Sciences Institute (DSI), the Federation of Business Disciplines (FBD) and the Southwest Decision Sciences Institute.
Villarreal earned his doctorate in business administration and computer information systems from The University of Texas Rio Grand Valley.
