A Message From Our Vice President

V.P. for Development

It is a privilege to lead the Division of Advancement and Alumni Engagement during one of the most exciting times in our university’s history. We are focused on increasing public and private giving through positive relationships with alumni, corporations, and friends of The University of Texas at San Antonio in order to position UTSA as a premier multicultural research institution focused on student success, research excellence, and strategic growth.

UTSA continues to make remarkable strides and our university remains steadfast on achieving its bold goals. In December 2021 UTSA attained the prestigious Carnegie R1 Classification. This significant milestone places UTSA among an elite group of universities – becoming one of only 21 Hispanic Serving Institutions in the nation that can also claim the esteemed Tier One designation for research.

In addition, the caliber of education that will continue to be offered at UTSA as a result of these designations equates to greater professional opportunities for our students as they graduate and become the professionals and industry leaders who will guide us into a brilliant future.

To help drive the university’s momentum, we are also gearing up to publicly launch the university’s largest comprehensive campaign in history – Be Bold: A Campaign for Our Future. The campaign supports all divisions, colleges, departments, and institutes across the university and its five campuses. I encourage you to stay engaged and learn about the many ways you can get involved to support San Antonio’s only public research university through this campaign.

UTSA’s trajectory is exhilarating and the passion of our students, faculty, and staff inspire us to find opportunities to celebrate and embrace philanthropy every day. This is a phenomenal time to be a Roadrunner and I look forward to sharing and celebrating UTSA’s continued success with all of you – our alumni and friends who are making UTSA’s bold future a reality

With Gratitude,

Karl Miller-Lugo
Vice President for Advancement and Alumni Engagement
