It is the policy of The University of Texas at San Antonio to provide equal access and opportunity to job applicants and otherwise qualified persons with disabilities. The University prohibits discrimination based on disability in all aspects of the application process and employment relationship.

Job Applicants

Applicants for positions with UTSA can obtain information concerning accommodation in the application process or initiate accommodation requests, by contacting the ADA Specialist. You can make this request orally or in writing, or someone else might make a request for you.

Overview of the University Employee Accommodation Request Process

UTSA employees can obtain information concerning workplace accommodation or initiate accommodation requests, by contacting the ADA Specialist. The accommodation process is a collaborative and interactive process between the Office of People Excellence (OPE), the employee seeking accommodations, the employee’s supervisor(s), and/or other appropriate personnel.

Having a medical condition alone is not enough to make someone eligible for accommodation under the ADA. Under the ADA, an individual with a disability is someone with a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities. To have an “actual” disability, an individual must be substantially limited in performing a major life activity.

Initiating the Accommodation Process

Employees seeking workplace accommodation(s) are responsible for initiating contact with the ADA Specialist and requesting information regarding accommodation. Employees requesting an accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) will submit their request by completing the following documents. Once forms are submitted, the ADA Specialist will discuss the next steps.
