Deferred Maintenance

UT San Antonio is advancing a comprehensive deferred maintenance and infrastructure modernization initiative to renew and enhance facilities at the academic and health campuses, supported by significant investments from the University of Texas System Board of Regents.

Overview

In August 2025, UT System approved approximately $186 million in Permanent University Fund bond proceeds over three years for deferred maintenance projects at UT San Antonio, including addressing critical systems and building infrastructure needs to ensure safe, reliable environments for teaching, research and patient care. This effort reflects UT San Antonio’s continued growth as a leading public research university and academic health institution.

The deferred maintenance initiative will focus on the renewal and replacement of critical building systems across multiple campuses, including:

  • Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) upgrades
