Main Campus Walkability and Bikeability
UTSA is enhancing the walkability and bikeability of the Main Campus. This project will enhance Brenan Avenue, which runs through the heart of the Main Campus, along with additional work along the south part of campus with a goal to connect Maverick Creek and UTSA Boulevard.
Overview
In 2023, the university was awarded an $11.7 million grant through the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) Transportation Alternatives (TA) program to improve bicycle and pedestrian paths on the Main Campus. The grant is part of a state-wide effort to improve access to schools and amenities.
This project will include constructing a pedestrian path and a bicycle path, raised crosswalks, ADA improvements, bicycle racks and safety improvements.
This project supports the UTSA's Campus Master Plan, which calls for promoting a pedestrian-oriented and compact campus core. Expanding the paseo network and discouraging vehicles within the core will further promote a safe, efficient and pleasant campus environment.
