
Behind the scenes of the bustling John Peace Library, a treasure trove of activism documents, photos, journals, propagandist memorabilia, and more is housed within UTSA Libraries Special Collections. Carefully curated by university archivists, the unique assemblage includes the most recent acquisition, coveted historical documents from the Southwest Voter Registration Education Project. Founded by grassroots organizer Willie Velasquez in 1974, the project continues efforts to help boost Latino voter participation. Sombrilla Magazine’s Vanessa Davila, Michelle Mondo, and Courtney Campbell collaborated on this video feature showcasing the important work by UTSA archivists.
