Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) brings awareness to the issue of sexual violence and the effects of sexual violence on survivors. During SAAM there are many events on campus that will promote healing, advocacy, challenging sexual assault myths, and teaching how to support survivors. Be a part of these efforts by attending one of the events below, being a part of a social media campaign, or downloading one of our virtual backgrounds.
Below is a the schedule of events for 2026.

Week 1

Self Defense

Thursday, March 27 | 7:30 to 9:30 pm

Engage with UTSA PD as they teach participants simple self-defense movements and safety tips to keep themselves safer while in the San Antonio Community.

Start By Believing Day Fair

Wednesday, April 1 | 11:30 am

Kick off Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) at the Start By Believing Day Fair! Make the choice to take a pledge, visit the various on and off campus resources, and interact with different activities. This event aims to raise awareness surrounding sexual violence and to provide opportunities to support survivors.

Wear Teal on Day of Action

Tuesday, April 7 | All Day

Chances are someone in your life is a survivor of sexual harassment, assault, or abuse, even if they have never shared their story with you. Show your support for survivors of sexual harassment and abuse by wearing teal — the color of sexual violence prevention — and post a selfie to Instagram using #SAAM2026. By wearing teal, you are signaling that you support survivors and are a safe person to talk to if they need to reach out.

White Ribbon Campaign

Tuesday, April 8 | 11:00 am

Make the White Ribbon pledge with UTSA PD to end violence against women by engaging men in the process of personal, relational and social change. Free drinks, snacks and giveaways.

Step into the "shoes" of a survivor of sexual violence and read their testimonies. This opportunity is open to students, staff and faculty by PEACE for Sexual Assault Awareness Month .

Let’s decorate jeans for Denim Day!! Denim Day is always held the last Wednesday in the month of April so join PEACE to decorate jean with supportive messages for individuals affected by sexual violence. All supplies will be provided.

Wednesday, April 23 | 11:00 am - 1:00 pm SU Rowdy Lawn

Wellbeing Services invites you to Mental Health Bingo! This event is an opportunity for you to learn about self-care and taking care of your wellbeing, win fun prizes, drink yummy mocktails, and unwind while you pet therapy dogs. Bring your friends, and we’ll see you there!

Wednesday, April 29 | 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm

Please wear your jeans or denim in honor of survivors of sexual violence on Denim Day, the last Wednesday of April during Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Head on over to the SU Rowdy Lawn on Wednesday, April 29 at 12:00 pm and take a photo at the Denim Day backdrop, grab some treats, and get your Denim Day swag. Learn about Denim Day and the importance of supporting survivors of sexual violence.

Every week on Mondays, PEACE will be tabling on campus offering resources, opportunities to show support to survivors, and ways to get involved in the prevention of sexual violence.

Green Dot Bystander Overview

This 90-minute interactive overview introduces the basic elements of Green Dot and the issues of power-based personal violence prevention. Join PEACE for this engaging training that will help participants recognize behaviors that constitute red dots, reduce the possibility of red dots happening by introducing green dots, the Three D’s of intervening, recognize personal barriers, and learn how to be proactive to establish a culture that is intolerant of violence on campus.
