Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week

Leadership and Volunteer Services is excited to partner with various Student Affairs departments for Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week happening Saturday, November 13 to Saturday, November 20. The UTSA community will kick off the week at the UTSA Football Indoor Tailgate this Saturday followed by an ongoing toiletry drive throughout the week that will directly benefit the Whataburger Resource Room. Donations can be dropped off at H-E-B Student Union 1.220 until Friday, November 19. For our Downtown Community, donations will be accepted on Monday, November 15 at the Downtown donation station located at Durango Building 1.306.

Students can register for a variety of events during the week including Blanket Making with UTSA VOICES on Tuesday, November 16. A Demo Kitchen with Campus Recreation will be held on Wednesday, November 17. Following the Demo Kitchen, students, faculty, and staff are invited to stop by the VOICES General Meeting to hear from Trevor Baker, a homeless outreach clinician with the City of San Antonio’s Department of Human Services.

Thanksgiving Meal Bagging with the Whataburger Resource Room will take place on Thursday, November 18 in the Student Union Window Lounge. Roadrunners are also invited to join in on the final event of the week at Rancho Carlota for a Habitat for Humanity Build.

All events can be found on RowdyLink. To show your support and awareness, Orange awareness ribbons will be given out through the week at the various events or you can stop by H-E-B SU 1.220 to pick one up! We thank our UTSA Roadrunners for their engagement in our week of events and are looking forward to seeing the education and impact on Hunger and Homelessness Awareness in our community.
