Roadrunner volunteers uplift San Antonio during annual UTSA Day of Service on April 1
The UTSA Day of Service is an opportunity for students, faculty, staff, alumni and families to give back to the university and to the San Antonio community on Saturday, April 1.
More than 20 projects across the city are planned for the approximately 400 to 500 volunteers who have signed up for this UTSA annual tradition. Volunteer Organization Involving Community Education and Services (VOICES) officers and members will be leading each of the projects.
This year’s event will begin with an 8 a.m. kickoff on Saturday at the UTSA Convocation Center. Free breakfast will be provided and participants will receive a Day of Service t-shirt.
Projects will include food bank restocking, animal sanctuary maintenance, community gardening, painting youth centers, landscaping and other arts and crafts projects.

Hosted by UTSA Leadership and Volunteer Services, this signature event serves as UTSA’s contribution to The University of Texas System’s United to Serve volunteer initiative, which challenges each campus in the system to develop a unique service activity.
VOICES is a sponsored student organization celebrating 30 years of leading community service at UTSA. It will celebrate its 1993 founding later in April with VOICES Week and again this fall with a special event during UTSA Homecoming.
“Our Roadrunners are always great about giving back to San Antonio and our community partners love to see the UTSA community share their time,” said Victoria Rodriguez, UTSA assistant director of Leadership and Volunteer Services. “I’m proud of the diversity we have with our project leads. One of our most excited students is a mom who will be bringing her teenagers to help out. This is how UTSA increases its impact.”
