UTSA provides August 21 digest of remote-operations news and tips

AUGUST 21, 2020 — UTSA is committed to supporting the university community during remote learning and operations. Here is your latest digest of university news and tips.

SHARE YOUR UTSA SPIRIT

It’s Spirit Friday, part of Roadrunner Days, the kickoff of the new fall semester. So put on some UTSA gear, snap a selfie and post it on social media with a #UTSARRDays hashtag. Then on Monday classes officially start with 4,000 online and 200 in-person courses on offer. Roadrunner Days events will continue over the next week and will focus on engagement and student success.

HR is now People ExcellenceHR IS NOW PEOPLE EXCELLENCE: Human Resources announces an exciting step forward as it evolves into the Office of People Excellence. The transition will allow People Excellence to place an even greater emphasis on serving the university’s faculty and staff, while creating bold new improvements to operations, organizations and partnerships.


FIGHT THE FLU: Protect your health and ensure the safety of fellow Roadrunners and everyone around you by visiting one of UTSA’s upcoming flu shot clinics. Register for an appointment for a clinic on either Main Campus or Downtown Campus to save time when you arrive. Walk-ins are also welcome. For everyone’s safety, temperature screenings, face coverings and observing social distancing will be required to enter the clinic.

PUBLIC HEALTH TRAINING UPDATE: As part of our shared responsibility to keep our Roadrunner community safe, all faculty, staff and students were asked to complete a mandatory public health compliance training. For faculty and staff, this training was due by August 14. Supervisors have now received lists of employees who have not yet completed the training and will follow up as needed. If you have not taken this important training, please complete it through MyTraining as soon as possible.

BEING ACCESSIBLE: Academic Innovation is making it easy to get digital accessibility questions about courses answered with Digital Accessibility virtual office hours via Zoom. Drop in today and any Friday between 11 a.m. and noon. Of course, you can also still email DigitalAccessibility@utsa.edu.


EXPAND YOUR AWARENESS: Strive for greater equity and social justice at UTSA and join the university’s Microaggression Awareness Campaign by attending a virtual workshop that will help you understand how bias influences thoughts, actions and behaviors. Register today for Understanding and Challenging Microagressions (search keyword microaggressions) today or on one of these other upcoming dates: September 23, October 22, November 13 or December 16.

FOCUS ON FITNESS: All UTSA employees, retirees, spouses and dependents age 18 and over who are covered by the UT SELECT Medical Plan are eligible to participate in UT System’s Living Well Webinars. Coming up next week: Health on the Move. Learn tips to relieve and prevent lower body pain. And if you’re now suffering from a related condition discover best practices and exercises to help relieve the pain and discomfort. | Tuesday, August 25 at 11 a.m. via Zoom.

Have a live consultation with a doctor 24/7 via video, mobile app or phone. Even if you are not sick, activate your account now so that you can skip that step when you are actually sick and need to see a doctor quickly.
