JANUARY 11, 2021 — The nomination period to recognize a UTSA faculty or staff member for going beyond the extra mile is now open. If you’ve witnessed extraordinary leadership, service or contributions from a faculty or staff member this year, you can bring recognition to them through your nomination submission online.
Nominations are being accepted until February 26, 2021, for an employee to have the opportunity to earn a University Excellence Award. Nominations should encompass the hard work and dedication accomplished during 2020 to be eligible for an award. Additional requirements may apply for specific awards.
Recipients of University Excellence Awards will be recognized at a live virtual ceremony in April.
Nominations are now being accepted in seven categories:
Rising Star Award ($1,000 prize): A new employee who has made significant contributions throughout the year to his or her area or the university community. (Staff nominations accepted.)
Leadership Award ($1,000 prize): Someone who has promoted departmental and university mission and goals through job performance. (Staff nominations accepted.)
Team Spirit Award ($1,000 prize): Showcases the ability to foster collaboration, communication and cooperation among colleagues internal or external to their department. (Staff nominations accepted.)
Extra Mile Award ($1,000 prize): Recognizes an employee who goes above and beyond to contribute to the success of UTSA through his or her outstanding contributions at work. (Staff nominations accepted.)
Order of the Roadrunner Award ($1,000 prize): This highest honor a UTSA staff member can receive is given for exemplary service and commitment to UTSA. (Staff nominations accepted.)
Richard S. Howe Excellence in Service to Undergraduate Students Award (up to $2,000 prize): Established in 2002 and named in honor of longtime engineering professor Richard S. Howe. Faculty and staff members are awarded this honor for their outstanding commitment toward UTSA undergraduates. (Staff and faculty nominations accepted.)
President’s Distinguished Diversity Award ($500 and $1,000 prizes): Bestowed upon faculty, staff and students whose work has helped the UTSA community think about and practice diversity and inclusion in creative and collaborative ways. (Faculty, staff and student nominations accepted.)
