Women's History Month
About
Since the late 1980s, Women’s History Month has celebrated the contributions women have made to history, culture, and society and has recognized the specific achievements women have made over the course of American history. The UTSA theme for Women’s History Month 2023 is “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories.”
At UTSA, the Women’s Studies Institute has proudly hosted one of the country’s largest Women’s History Month campus celebrations over the past decade and a half. Guided by an annual theme, the month-long series features scholars, award-winning authors, filmmakers, and community leaders. Events are open to the public and so they connect hundreds of students from across campus to the larger San Antonio community.

The Untold Poems of a Chinese and Puerto Rican Woman
Kimberly Ming is a multiethnic, multifaceted, multimedia, storyteller.
It is not often you hear about a Chinese and Puerto Rican woman that grew up in Northern Colorado. Boricuas (Puertorriqueños/Puerto Ricans) in the diaspora are more populated in New York, Florida, and other states. Kimberly Ming grew up navigating the world through a multiethnic lens as a daughter to parents of Chinese and Puerto Rican heritage in a suburban white town that never felt quite like home.
In this virtual event, Kimberly shares her collection of work that is vulnerable and raw. It has the potential to help mixed and multicultural people know they are not alone. It also has the power to bridge cultural gaps that many seek to understand in a real and deeper way.
