Centro Announces 2023 State of Downtown + Downtown Tomorrow Strategy Launch

Centro San Antonio (Centro) will host the 2023 State of Downtown and an official launch of the Downtown Tomorrow Strategy. The event will take place Tuesday, May 16 th , 2023 from 9:00am-10:30am at the iconic new venue The Espee .
The State of Downtown will focus on the center city’s opportunities and challenges, as well as feature the public release of the Downtown Tomorrow Strategy developed in coordination with community leaders with welcoming remarks from Mayor Ron Nirenberg.
“This dynamic gathering of downtown residents, employees, business-owners, and enthusiasts will be an incredible opportunity to learn about and discuss the results of a community visioning process informed by thousands of data points for the creation of a strategy for downtown,” said Matt Brown, Centro CEO. “It not only establishes a vision for the future, but the theory and priorities for achieving it. We invite the community to join together in pursuit of that vision we have all created.”
The program will feature detailed dives into the strategy’s core areas of clean + safe, mobility, resident life, economic prosperity, arts, culture & entertainment, as well as overviews of catalytic projects such as the UTSA Downtown Campus, Hemisfair, Alamo Plaza, and Scobey Development.
“This strategy sets an ambitious vision for our Center City, with concrete action and built-in community participation,” said Trish DeBerry, Centro Board Chair. “I invite everyone to come participate in downtown’s future.”
A resource fair will follow the program, with participating organizations tradeshow as well as breakout and networking opportunities around the strategy focus areas.
The event will feature complimentary breakfast bites + refreshments by Centro Alliance member Box St. All Day , a local brunch favorite at Hemisfair.
