Thank you for supporting the Honors College!

The Romos

Your presence helped make this great event a success for the UTSA Honors College. Great Conversation! raised more than $148,000 for scholarships for students such as John Lira, who wanted to thank you personally for the support you’ve provided.

Dear Donors:

I want to express my deepest appreciation for your generous scholarship support to the Honors College, which makes it possible for ambitious and aspiring students like me to recognize our full potential and set goals that would have been unachievable without proper resources. This award helped relieve the financial burdens I faced and allowed me to concentrate on my studies and complete my degree.

The Honors College also offered me several student enrichment opportunities. I participated in the Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA) program at Princeton University in summer 2011 and the UT System Archer Fellowship Program in Washington, D.C. in fall 2011. My internship at the National Defense University gave me unparalleled experience in national security. I am now completing my Honors thesis, which focuses on the labels used to define the drug trafficking organizations in Mexico. I chose this topic because the way these organizations are defined influences the security strategies we use to combat them.

John Lira

I am grateful for the opportunities that UTSA has provided me. As my graduation date nears, I will always be thankful for the investment you have made in my education. Your kindness and generosity enable talented UTSA students to realize goals that were otherwise financially out of reach. Your gifts continue to forge a legacy of high achievement and keep UTSA on the cutting edge of academic excellence.

Thank you again for your support of UTSA.

Sincerely,
John J. Lira (B.A. ’12)
