Jorge completed his undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Texas at San Antonio, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Biology (B.S.). Jorge began his doctoral training in the neurobiology program at UTSA in 2012. Jorge is currently working with Dr. Carlos A. Paladini studying the physiology of midbrain dopaminergic neurons. Jorge’s dissertation focuses on how midbrain dopaminergic neurons generate burst firing. Upon completion of his PhD, Jorge plans to obtain a postdoctoral training in behavioral neuroscience. After completing his postdoctoral training, Jorge plans on pursing a career in academia and will continue to study the dopaminergic system.
