Faculty Instructional Technology (FIT) Lab

The FIT Lab is an Office of Digital Learning workspace that provides an environment for faculty support and training with the latest instructional technology tools.





Who uses the FIT Lab?


The Office of Digital Learning, divided into two teams, uses the FIT Lab to best meet the needs of faculty in improving their use of technology in traditional, hybrid, and online instruction. Faculty are invited to use the FIT Lab for hands-on experience with Blackboard Learn, building SoftChalk learning modules, creating Respondus exams, and receiving course design feedback to improve the student learning experience at UTSA.

  • The Support and Training team uses the FIT Lab to assist faculty in using Blackboard and related tools as well as a training space for workshops and Coffee Break sessions.


  • The Instructional Design and Development team uses the FIT Lab to meet with faculty for the redesign of existing or development of new hybrid and online courses.



What technology is available in the FIT Lab?

A classroom podium as found in UTSA general classrooms: PC with Windows 8 and projection system.

  • 3 PCs featuring large screen monitors, Windows 7, and a variety of software including Adobe Acrobat X Pro, Audacity, Camtasia, and SoftChalk.
  • 1 Mac featuring Adobe Acrobat X Pro and Camtasia 2.
  • 8 laptops running Windows 7.


Where is the FIT Lab located?

The FIT Lab is located in the Multidisciplinary Studies building, in MS 1.03.14. It is next to the Digital Learning main office in MS 1.03.08.


Walk-Ins and Reservations

Walk-ins for technical support should stop by the Digital Learning main office in M 1.03.08 between the hours of 8am and 5pm to sign in.

Reservations can be made by calling Digital Learning at 210.458.4057 during regular business hours.

The Multimedia Studio is a quiet workspace designed for audio and video recording for instructional purposes. A PC and Mac are both available, along with high quality microphones and a variety of software. Faculty are invited to reserve this room by calling the Office of Digital Learning at 210.458.4057 during regular business hours.
