There is going the extra mile and then there is really going the extra mile! As a parent of a Roadrunner student and a football fan, my husband and I purchased Inaugural season tickets. We had such a wonderful time that we decided to not only renew our tickets but to gift a pair of season tickets to my father-in-law for his 80th Birthday. I knew my in-laws would love them; however, seat proximity, accessibility and stairs were an issue.

Sammie patiently listened to my detailed request and found the perfect match! Now here is truly where the extra mile comes in…I received an email ticket confirmation with a personalized Happy 80th Birthday greeting. UTSA never stops to amaze me with its personal touch. Thank you Sammie for your extra efforts and exemplifying the UTSA experience. Please know how proud I am that you are part of the Roadrunner Family!

Today I am proud to present Gail Carbajal, Associate Director of Financial aid, with Thank You Rowdy. Gail works tirelessly in the Compliance Area to ensure quality assurance and control. She and I "connect" every summer for 2 weeks when the State Auditors come to visit. Gail communicates with impeccable accuracy, tact, and diplomacy. Even though Gail works with tedious data, numbers and dates, she is always friendly, cheerful and pleasant to collaborate with. She answers the myriad questions, data requests and enrollment reporting with grace and aplomb and never, ever loses her cool. Gail is a great colleague, a wonderful person, and represents UTSA well. I am very happy and pleased to be able to honor my fellow cross-stitcher with Thank You Rowdy.
