“I graduated last year and miss my alma mater so much. Recalling my years at UTSA are a joy. As a first-generation college student, it meant so much to be at a school that made me proud to be Latina and a first-generation college student. The diversity around me was incredible, especially when I encountered professors that were Latina/o like me.

In particular, I remember how encouraged I felt, especially due to the wonderful faculty in the Department of History. I had professors that saw potential in me when I didn't see it myself. It's why I decided to pursue higher education and why I'm now in a Ph.D. program. The sense of community at UTSA was a big deal for me. It was home for me, and it will forever hold a special place in my heart.”
