Attend the First Family Get Together!
Whether you are moving in your student for the first time or you’re a seasoned pro, it is important to take a few minutes to rest and feed your spirit. Once your student has moved into their new space, connect with the Family Association staff and other UTSA families at our Family Get Together on Saturday, August 23.
Drop in to Rock and Brews, at 5702 Landmark Pkwy, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, to get to know other Roadrunner families before heading back home. Chat about the stresses of packing and unpacking, how you will adjust to your students being away from home, and how you look forward to seeing them grow.
Registration for this event is available in the UTSA Family Portal or email us at family@utsa.edu for more information.

Move-In Madness: Roadrunner Edition
Move-In Week runs August 18–22. Each housing complex has assigned specific dates and times for a smooth experience. Check assignment for details!
Here are a few quick tips to help with the transition:
- Talk about routines such as laundry, meals, and managing time.
- Set check-in plans and decide how often you’ll connect—texts, calls, or visits.
- Encourage to check out organizations, support services, and events.
- Pack smart by labeling everything and bring essentials, not everything they own.
This is a big step—celebrate it, support them, and enjoy the journey ahead.
Roadrunner Days Welcome Events
The start of the academic year is right around the corner. As your student prepares for the road to success, we are preparing to make the journey a memorable one. Roadrunner Days is a two-week-long welcome, packed full of events and activities, immersing your students into the culture, traditions and values of the UT San Antonio. Roadrunners will learn their way around campus, discover the UTSA community, and have fun, all while making new and lasting memories.
The August 24 - 30, Roadrunners will learn their way around campus, discover the UTSA community, and meet their fellow students, all while making new and lasting memories . Rowdy Glow (formerly Midnight Light), Late Night at the Rec, and the Get Involved Fair are just some of the events where students come together and make new friends, reconnect with old classmates, and settle into their new surroundings.
The second week, August 31- September 6, your roadrunners are introduced to services and resources available to assist them in their academic journey. These connections can make the difference in helping your student feel supported and succeed throughout their college journey. Encourage your students to attend events throughout the two-week period of Roadrunner Days to help them discover all that UTSA has to offer.

Resources and Opportunities

One of the best ways to support your student is by staying informed about key academic dates. Check the UTSA Academic Calendar to know when classes begin and end, and—most importantly—when finals are scheduled. This helps you avoid calling, texting, or planning visits during critical study periods. Your support from a distance can make a big difference.

Navigate around campus with the interactive map. From parking areas to housing complexes, from Welcome Center to walking trails, from Main Campus to Downtown Campus, find live directions here.

A valid parking permit is required to park on UTSA campuses. A wide variety of permits are available to suit your Roadrunner’s needs and budget, including surface, garage, and other kinds of permits. Order online through MyParking. Permits are mailed within five to seven days, and a printable temporary permit is available for immediate use until it arrives. Roadrunners have the option to pay at the time of purchase or to add the cost to their tuition and fees.

While you’re preparing your Roadrunner for the fall semester, we encourage you to check out our online parking and transportation guide. Conversation Starters With Your Roadrunner
Conversation Starters - Begining a New Academic Year
As the academic year begins, both students and parents navigate meaningful transitions. For parents, this might mean adjusting to a quieter home, while students embrace their newfound independence. Throughout the semester, it’s important to stay connected with your Roadrunner. Check in regularly about their academic progress and campus involvement. Ask or discussion prompts, listen actively, and offer guidance when needed. Your support can make a big difference as they grow into their role as a college student.
