Essential Functions
The UTSA Office of Alumni Relations seeks a creative, innovative, highly organized, collaborative, and solution and goal-oriented individual to serve as an Alumni Engagement Officer in charge of Student and Young Alumni Programming. Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Initiates, plans, develops, schedules, and manages on and off-site, virtual and in person engagement and fundraising events to include coordination of logistical and operational needs, budget management, programming, marketing and communications development primarily targeting current UTSA students and young alumni.
- Assists the Office of Annual Giving with the Roadrunner Student Alumni Association, and assists with its day-to-day function, as well as major programming and events.
- Develop, plan and execute innovative student and young alumni engagement strategies and events that optimize and improve connections and networking opportunities.
- Serves as a liaison to external stakeholders related to relative programming, events or campaigns.
- Collaborate with and serves as a liaison to university units for the benefit of student and young alumni programming. Such collaborations may include engagement of individuals in support of admissions or expanding career networking services for students and alumni.
- Educate the student body on the importance of alumni involvement with the university after graduation.
- Assists with the coordination of alumni volunteer engagement for organizational, university and community programming.
- Collects, records and tracks event and volunteer program data points identified for alumni engagement metrics.
- Coordinates financial transactions, including budget tracking, invoicing and billing submissions for events and programming as needed.
- Management of programming and event equipment and inventory.
- Acts as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate and facilitate event and programming needs.
- Supervises coordinators, work studies, and interns when applicable.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and two years of experience in external relations, alumni engagement, development or related area. Additional education/experience may substitute for experience/education on a one for one basis.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Understanding of individual alumni needs and perceptions
- Understanding of identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship process
- Use of computer, Microsoft Office, and standard office equipment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in programming and/or events management
- Similar experience in higher education or non-profit atmosphere
- Experience with Raiser’s Edge or other CRM
- Three years of progressively responsible experience in external relations, development, and/or public relations with demonstrated accomplishment in fostering productive relationships with volunteers and developing volunteer leadership
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility and initiative, as well as the ability to work independently, combined with the skills for thriving in a team environment to achieve institutional goals
- The demonstrated ability to strategize, implement and build successful constituency programs and activities

Essential Functions
The Assistant Director of Development will be responsible for building the Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design (KCEID) donor pipeline by identifying, cultivating, and soliciting gifts of $25,000-$100,000 and select leadership annual gifts. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer - KCEID, specific duties will include but are not limited to:
- Meet or exceed defined visit, activity, and fundraising goals.
- Manage a personal portfolio of major gift prospects including qualifying, cultivating and soliciting prospects for gifts of at least $25,000.
- Responsible for discovery, pipeline building, strategic engagement activities, as well as moves management with major gift donors and prospects.
- Work closely with the key partners throughout the Office of Advancement & Alumni Engagement and the Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design to develop and implement short and long-term strategic fundraising plans.
- Assist in planning, strategy, and execution of donor events.
- Contribute to internal and external communications and overall public relations and marketing for the Klesse College of Engineering and Integrated Design to include the College’s website, publications, donor stewardship, and promotional and fundraising materials.
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of KCEID and the university, its initiatives and fundraising priorities in order to communicate a compelling case for support, and to serve as a liaison between and representative of UTSA and our constituents.
- Participate in key events, committees and other opportunities to cultivate relationships with donors, prospects, and internal partners; support advisory councils with development-related matters and manage volunteers as appropriate.
- Prepare dean, other administration or volunteers for development activities.

Reporting to the Dean of the College and the Senior Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Development, specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

- Supervise the gift recording, reporting and acknowledgement process for all gifts to the College of Business.
- Co-lead the College of Business Advisory Council; plan and oversee council meetings and provide guidance on development-related matters.
- Provide direct supervision of Assistant Director of Development and general supervision to staff under the direction of the Dean.
- Prepare dean, other administration or volunteers for development activities.
