UTSA Orientation Interns are an important part of the Orientation and Family Programs (OFP) Leadership Team. The Leadership Team includes a Director, Associate Director, Senior Program Coordinator, Program Coordinator and an Administrative Associate.

Due to ongoing COVID developments, Orientation for Fall 2021 is evolving and following university protocol and safety standards which is currently a virtual modality. Orientation format is subject to change modalities.

Job Duties

  1. Responsible for assisting with the virtual summer operations of Orientation and Family Programs (OFP). This could include assembly and organization of program evaluations, assisting with video capabilities and set up, recording and transcribing chat transcripts, preparing student team, etc.
  2. Comply with University policies and telecommuting procedures and work confidentially with student information on a variety of programs (Outlook, Teams, Orientation Reservation system)
  3. Virtually supervise, train and evaluate student staff (Student Coordinators; Team Leaders; and Orientation Leaders). Work directly with assigned Student Coordinator(s) to oversee program areas.
  4. Responsible for a virtual Staff Development offered at least once in the summer for all Orientation Staff
  5. Oversee ongoing communication with existing team such as a bi-monthly newsletter, weekly team challenges, game nights, etc and the OL yearbook given out at the end of the summer
  6. Assist with Online Orientation
  7. Plan the virtual Orientation and Family Programs End of the Season Celebration
  8. Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate will have experience in working with Orientation or Housing or a related field in a diverse setting. The candidate will have intermediate computer skills in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint) and Zoom. Good communication skills, a positive attitude, flexibility and initiative are just some of the interpersonal skills we are looking for in an Orientation Intern.
