Josh Childress

Student Success Coach II

  • I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 2005 and my law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 2009.
  • I practiced law for several years and taught law at St. Mary’s University
  • I bring over a decade of experience in higher education to this position (as a student, professor, and success coach).
  • I am forward-focused, non-judgmental, and a self-proclaimed problem solver.
  • When I’m not helping students overcome their academic obstacles, I enjoy playing with my kids, talking with my wife, and DIY-ing our house into oblivion.

Jorge Rodriguez

Student Success Coach II

  • I’m from New York City
  • I received my Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Monroe College in 1995. I earned a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature from The City University of New York, Lehman College Campus, in 1998.   I completed my Master's Degree In Creative Writing in 2002 from the City University of New York, City College Campus.  In my final year as a Graduate student, I was awarded a New York Times Fellowship Award in Creative Writing.
  • I was a full-time English Professor at Monroe College from 2003 to 2013. I worked as an English Professor with both South University and ECPI University here in San Antonio.
  • I have over 15 years of experience in higher Ed both as a Professor, as well as a mentor to students from many diverse backgrounds. This includes First Gen and international students, Military students, and adult learners returning to school after many years away.
  • I am a creative problem solver and think fast on my feet.  I also work well under pressure and love challenging myself to learn new things as often as I can.
  • In my Free time I enjoy going to the movies with my wife and daughter, playing with our dogs Chloe and Coco, and collecting rare comic books and toys. I am also a video game enthusiast. You can find me doing my 15th or 20th playthrough of Mass Effect Legendary Edition, or Cyberpunk 2077 in my downtime!

Senior, Business Analytics

  • I was born in Florida but was raised in Texas most of my life.
  • I’ve been a part of the Business Honors Program (BHP) since Spring 2021 and the BHP Advisory Board since Fall 2022.
  • I enjoy helping students, whether it’s personally or academically, as well as being a resource for them. In addition, I have experience being a Peer Educator with Wellbeing Services and a First-Year Experience (FYE) Peer Mentor.
  • My goal with being an Academic Peer Coach is to assist all types of students to become successful in their college journey.
  • I love spending my free time going to the gym and binge-watching TV shows.
  • Favorite movies: Forrest Gump, Planet of the Apes Trilogy, and 127 Hours
