Available Networks at UT Health San Antonio

There are two options to connect to Wi-Fi for UTSA visitors to UT Health San Antonio: Eduroam (recommended for faculty/staff) and HSCguest (free public Wi-Fi). UT Health San Antonio faculty, staff, and students use a private, encrypted Wi-Fi called HSCwave. 


Eduroam (Recommended for UTSA faculty/staff visitors)

Eduroam is a secure, worldwide roaming internet access service developed for the international research and education community. UTSA faculty and staff can use their UTSA credentials in the following format:   

Username: first.lastname@utsa.edu 
Note: Do not use your myUTSA ID (abc123)

Password: your UTSA Passphrase

HSCguest (Free Public Internet Access, recommended for UTSA Students)

UT Health Science Center Visitors and Guests may connect to the HSCguest wireless network. To connect, select HSCguest from your device's list of available networks and accept the terms of use. Please be aware that this network is unencrypted. If you are a UTSA faculty/staff member and you need to do sensitive work or access private UTSA resources, please use the UTSA VPN.


Troubleshooting Connection Issues

  1. Eduroam authentication failures: 
    • Note that Eduroam is not available for UTSA students
    • Verify your username format is firstname.lastname@utsa.edu
    • Clear saved network credentials and reconnect
  2. Multiple network conflicts:
    • Clear all network profiles and connect again
  3. HSCguest connection issues:
    • Open web browser after connecting
    • Accept terms and conditions
    • Try different browsers if issues persist
