Faculty

Thirty new faculty were hired in 2007 for a total of 586 budgeted tenure/tenure-track faculty positions. Ninety-eight percent of full-time faculty hold doctorates or equivalent terminal degrees. More than 260 tenured and tenure-track faculty positions were added during the last seven years. Sixty-nine percent of tenure-track faculty hired have been women and minorities.

Library

The UTSA Library serves the Tri-Campus community with locations at the Main Campus, Downtown Campus and the Institute of Texan Cultures. Library personnel assist students, faculty and staff with their research, information and educational needs by using the latest in library and information services. The Library provides both electronic and physical access to information resources and services including a collection of 742,000 volumes, 2,300 periodical subscriptions, 30,000 electronic journals, 48,000 electronic books, approximately 300 electronic databases as well as manuscripts, maps, media and microforms.

Learning Centers

The Learning and Teaching Center and the Center for Distance Learning provide intensive support for faculty to improve teaching effectiveness. Workshops, seminars and grant programs promote new classroom learning strategies and the use of online technologies and computer programs to advance learning.
