Advanced Computing and Network Research

The Center for Advanced Computing and Network Research is devoted to advancing the state of the art in parallel and distributed computing techniques for applications in real-world multidisciplinary studies and applied research. Affiliated faculty and advanced computational and networking facilities within the Center provide the key resources needed to meet these multidisciplinary research goals. Educational grants are sought and administered to provide competitive researchsponsored scholarships and academic fellowships for students interested in computer science, engineering, and other science career disciplines affiliated with the Center's research program.

Applied Mathematics Research

Current Applied Mathematics Research areas include analysis, computational mathematics, computational statistics, differential equations, dynamical systems, environmental engineering, hybrid systems, logic, mathematical biology, mathematical physics, nonassociative algebras, nonstandard analysis, numerical analysis, quality engineering and statistical inference.

Center for Lasers and Materials Science Research

The Center for Lasers and Materials Science Research was started in 1994 and was originally created as a research laboratory to study solid state laser materials such as hard crystals and plastic dyes.

Institute of Law and Public Affairs

The Institute for Law and Public Affairs began on September 1, 2001, with an academic partnership between UTSA and The University of Texas School of Law. The Institute operates at the UTSA Downtown Campus under the auspices of the Office of the Vice Provost for UTSA Downtown.

Visualization and Modeling Laboratory

The UTSA Visualization and Modeling Laboratory focuses on new ways to model and visualize systems with concurrent behavior. Application areas range from multithreaded operating systems to chaotic pattern-forming systems and neurobiology. Computer animation, image processing and interactive simulations are some of the tools used in this research
