SURGERY FROM HOME? -
The Future of Robotics in Medicine

The first generation of surgical robots is already being installed in a number of operating rooms around the world. These aren't true autonomous robots that can perform surgical tasks on their own, but they are lending a mechanical helping hand to surgeons.

Meet a pioneer in the field of surgical robotics right here in San Antonio! Dr. Kella completes 25 or more robotic procedures each month and is one of the nation's most experienced robotic surgeons. Patients from all over the world have traveled to San Antonio seeking Dr. Kella's expertise in performing this procedure.

Dr. Kella will share film footage of the next generation robotics in action.

Dr. Naveen Kella went to Stanford University for undergraduate training and to medical school at University of Texas Southwestern Medical, Dallas. His residency was done at Tufts New England Medicine Center, Boston. He and his wife currently reside in San Antonio.

Link to the 2007-2008 Sponsorship Form

Call the Office of Alumni Programs for more details, 458-4133.

The UTSA Alumni Association actively promotes and serves the university and its 72,000 alumni with programs that maintain relationships with fellow students and faculty, forge new community partnerships and encourage continuing education and professional development.

UTSA Alumni Connections Networking Breakfast Series is a very special way that alumni can share information and their personal experiences with others in a variety of career fields. Each quarterly breakfast will focus on a particular topic, and seasoned professionals will offer their insights, unique experiences and, of course, hard-won advice.

Take advantage of this opportunity to reacquaint with alumni and meet other community leaders and educators. You don’t have to be a member of the UTSA Alumni Association to attend any Connections Breakfast and your sponsorship or your company’s sponsorship is welcomed.
