UTSA hosts blood drives, bone marrow registration

UTSA Student Health Services and the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center will host blood drives and bone marrow registration. The events include a free baseball cap for each donor, refreshments and prizes. The Downtown Campus blood drive is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, Jan. 24 in Buena Vista Street Building Room 1.338. Drives at the 1604 Campus are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 26 and Thursday, Jan. 27 in the University Center Laurel Room (2.01.28). Office of Student Activities celebrates new name

UTSA students voted last fall to change the name of the UTSA Office of Student Leadership and Cultural Programs to the "Office of Student Activities." The new name is being incorporated into programming and publications produced at its offices on the 1604 and Downtown campuses.

Office of Legal Affairs updates HOP

ESL Services seeks conversation partners

The Conversation Partner Program is looking for students, faculty, staff and international students to serve as conversation partners this semester for one hour each week at times and places convenient for the volunteers. “Partners love to do activities together as well as talk,” said Assistant Coordinator J.D. Procter. "Contact us if you are interested in making UTSA a friendlier place." Applications are available in the Office of English as a Second Language Services, Multidisciplinary Studies Building Room 3.01.10.

ITC needs volunteers for Feb. 12 Asian festival

Volunteers are needed Saturday, Feb. 12 at the Institute of Texan Cultures for the Asian Festival. Volunteers will serve as information attendants, freight elevator operators, participant helpers (loading and unloading), set-up/tear-down assistants and other positions as needed. Shifts are approximately three and a half hours long between 7:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Volunteers receive free admission for themselves and a guest, and free parking near the festival.

Submit items to UTSA online calendar

Are your department's events posted on the UTSA calendar? If not, contact your dean's office or administrative office and ask for the person who posts UTSA calendar items. Items can be posted anytime up to a year in advance -- advance notice is a plus for event attendance. Submissions are posted after a quick approval process. Keep in mind that submissions must be of interest to the greater UTSA community. Submissions must include date, time, location, name and brief description of event, contact person, e-mail and phone. The six most current items on the General Events calendar are dynamically placed daily on UTSA Today.
