Reminder: Student grades are confidential information

As a reminder to UTSA employees, student grades are confidential information protected by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). FERPA is a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education. Any UTSA employee releasing grade information to anyone other than the student earning the grades is subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination. Some employees who also are students may have access to the Banner information system. Use of Banner by these employees must be related only to their jobs. For example, it is not permissible for an employee who is also a student to use Banner to look up their own grades or those of other students.

UTSA maintains 8-to-5 schedule for summer

To provide essential services, UTSA will keep its offices and services open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday this summer instead of the previous practice of adopting a modified summer schedule. All university offices must be open and fully functional 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday-Friday. However, department supervisors may approve "flex" schedules for employees with approval from their dean, vice provost or vice president and as long as all offices are sufficiently staffed and fully operational during regular business hours.
