Staff council nominations needed todayNominations are needed to fill positions on the UTSA Staff Council being vacated because of expiring terms. Nomination forms were sent to administrative-and-professional and classified benefits-eligible employees in the vice president areas with expiring terms. Nominations must be campus-mailed by Wednesday, July 5. Staff Council plays an important role in the university community, so it is important to fill the vacated spots. Employees are encouraged to self-nominate or nominate others within the appropriate VP areas who they feel would commit to playing an active role in the council and monthly meetings. Staff Council establishes scholarshipsThe UTSA Staff Council has established the Staff Council Scholarships for UTSA classified and administrative and professional staff members. Two $250 scholarships will be awarded for fall 2006, to one undergraduate and one graduate student. The application deadline is Friday, July 21. UTSA bookstores re-open under new managementThe UTSA bookstores at the 1604 and Downtown campuses closed temporarily in a transition from one vendor to another. Because of the management transition, the Downtown Campus bookstore closed June 22 and the 1604 Campus bookstore closed June 26. Both stores re-opened July 5. Construction Notice: Lot 5 partial closurePart of parking lot 5 adjacent to the Convocation Center at the 1604 Campus will be closed until Aug. 18 in order to create parking in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. More information: Parking and Transportation Services Web site
Tobin Avenue section closed through July 12A portion of Margaret Tobin Avenue will be closed through Wednesday, July 12 for duct bank utilities construction work at the UTSA 1604 Campus. The closed section of Margaret Tobin Avenue is west of the intersection with Walter Brenan Avenue, adjacent to the Chaparral Village and Roadrunner Cafe parking lot. Signs will be posted for the detour. View a detour map.
HOP public assembly policy addedA new policy has been added to the UTSA Handbook of Operating Procedures (HOP): 9.37 "Peaceful Public Assembly Policy." The new policy provides the rules, procedures and guidelines concerning public assembly on the UTSA campuses. Periodic updates to the HOP online will be announced in @UTSA.
Compensatory time policy is available onlineAs a reminder to UTSA employees, Chapter 4.27 "State Compensatory Time" in the Handbook of Operating Procedures (HOP) provides the rules and guidelines concerning state compensatory time, both holiday and approved time. Purchasing office sets fiscal year deadlinesTo assist with the processing of the end of FY 2005-06 and new purchase orders for FY 2006-07, the purchasing office has set cut-off dates for accepting purchase orders. Among the deadlines are July 7 (last day to submit purchase requests in excess of $25,000) and Aug. 4 (last day to submit all other purchase requests).
