Avoid last-minute rush: Order parking permit nowTo avoid the last-minute rush and long lines, UTSA faculty and staff can order parking permits online. Order by July 30 and receive your permit via U.S. mail at your home. Parking permits expire Aug. 31 with no grace period. Cars without a permit or with an expired permit will be ticketed. Payment options include MasterCard and Discover credit cards. Faculty and staff have the added convenience of payroll deduction. To place your UTSA parking permit order, visit the ASAP Web site, click on "Login to ASAP" and follow the instructions.
Annual benefits enrollment ends July 31The 2006-2007 annual benefits enrollment deadline is July 31. Employees received an e-mail on July 3 titled "Annual Enrollment Coverage Option Letter" with links to the Annual Enrollment Benefits Packet and UT TOUCH enrollment system. Employees and retirees without an e-mail account were sent a paper packet. Employees who do not complete annual enrollment selections by the deadline will be assigned "default" benefits. Construction Closure: North side of lot 6The north portion of parking lot 6 adjacent to the Science and Biosciences buildings, 1604 Campus, will close July 24 for construction of a thermal energy plant. The lot will remain closed until construction is completed in early 2008. The south portion of parking lot 6 will remain open during construction. Construction Closure: James Bauerle Road at lot 8Construction of an extension to James Bauerle Road at the 1604 Campus begins Monday, July 24. Part of Bauerle Road will be closed through December. Detour signs will be posted at the site. Bauerle Road runs on the east side of parking lot 8, south of the Arts Building. In preparation for the construction project, Rhoderick Key Boulevard will close at 5 p.m., Friday, July 21; the short street and lot are accessed from Bauerle Road. The small parking lot is on the south side of the Arts Building. The Rhoderick Key lot will re-open from lot 8 only on Monday, July 24. Access will remain available to authorized personnel through the Service Drive from Fred Cook Drive. Fred Cook Drive runs from the north to the Humanities and Social Sciences Building. Bauerle Road from O'Neill Ford Avenue to the construction area, formerly a one-way street, will be two-way beginning July 21. The lot 8 entrance drive to the Rhoderick Key Boulevard intersection also will become two-way. Parallel parking will no longer be permitted on Bauerle Road. Handbook of Operating Procedures updatedPolicy 4.9, "Student Employees," has been updated in the UTSA Handbook of Operating Procedures (HOP). This section on non-classified student titles has been updated with additional copy for clarification. Periodic updates to the HOP will be announced in @UTSA.
Alumni Association hosts Rising Star Gala Aug. 19The UTSA Alumni Association hosts the Alumni Rising Star Gala on Aug. 19 at the Westin La Cantera Resort. A silent auction and cocktail reception with music by the UTSA Marimba Ensemble is at 6:15 p.m. with dinner at 7:30 p.m. and dancing at 8:20 p.m. Tickets are $125; sponsored tables for eight start at $1,500. The popular Power Drawing is back, and tickets are $20 each or 3 for $50. Eight tickets will be drawn on gala night, and winners do not have to be present to win. Prizes include a week for two at Grand Cayman with airfare, Valero gas card for $2,000, gourmet sailing trip on Lake Travis, two Southwest airlines round-trip tickets and a Marriott gift certificate, a Spurs souvenir package including a limousine to dinner, and a men's 18k Movado watch.
