Nominations needed for UT System insurance committee

Nominations are needed for a new member to represent UTSA in the UT System-wide Insurance Advisory Committee. The person elected to this position will assist in discussion and decision making regarding group insurance policies and coverage. The elected member and an appointed member from each UT System institution will attend an annual committee meeting in Austin each April. However, meetings may be held more often if needed. Transportation costs to attend Austin meetings will be reimbursed. The elected member also serves as chair of the UTSA Employee Insurance Benefits Standing Committee, which communicates suggestions concerning employee insurance benefits to the system-wide committee. The nomination deadline is Aug. 20, and the elected employee will be announced shortly thereafter.

Make a nomination online at: http://www.utsa.edu/hr/insurancenominations/iac.htm

To make a nomination on paper, download the complete memo and nomination form (Word document) including nomination guidelines.

NOTE: Supervisors are asked to download and print the form for employees without Internet access. Return nominations made on this form by campus mail to Michael Barnett, Human Resources or fax to 458-4656.

Temporary safety fence erected at energy plant after equipment failure

On July 13, a fan failed at the 1604 Campus thermal energy plant cooling tower, resulting in some debris in the surrounding area. As a precautionary measure, Facilities Services erected orange construction fencing at the plant pending inspection of the cooling tower.
