January 19, 2007Marty Baylor to leave UTSA for position at UT Dallas
Marty Baylor, UTSA associate vice president for financial affairs, has accepted a position at the University of Texas at Dallas as associate vice president for budget and resource planning. His last day at UTSA is Feb. 16. With Baylor's departure, the financial affairs and budget areas will be reorganized. Effective immediately, budget and management reporting led by Janet Parker will be part of the Office of Financial Affairs. According to Kerry Kennedy, UTSA vice president for business affairs, the consolidation of departments will be provide more efficiency in advancing the university mission of serving students and the university community. "While at UTSA, Marty gained the confidence and friendship of his many peers," said Kennedy. "His easy-going nature and contagious smile are much admired by his colleagues. We thank Marty for his service to UTSA and wish him the best in his new position." Baylor joined UTSA in April 2005 after serving at the Texas A&M University Health Sciences Center Baylor College of Dentistry. At UTSA, he is credited with improving customer service by extending food and fiscal services hours, and creating a separate travel office to better serve UTSA clients. Baylor was responsible for leadership, planning, implementation, management and operation of financial operations, accounting, and financial reporting processes and procedures. He supervised the business office (disbursements, fiscal services, travel, inventory/surplus and cash/investment management), accounting, payroll, grants and contract administration, and auxiliary services.
