Wear your orange-and-blue to Final Four events

With thousands of visitors expected to attend downtown events during the NCAA Men's Final Four Basketball Championship, UTSA President Ricardo Romo encourages students, faculty and staff to show their Roadrunner Spirit by wearing their UTSA orange-and-blue at the numerous free concerts and family activities April 4-7 in downtown San Antonio. As the Final Four host institution, UTSA teamed up with the San Antonio Local Organizing Committee and the City of San Antonio to host the championship.

Learn about grad school: Graduate Program Days is April 1, 7

The UTSA Graduate School will host Graduate Program Days information fairs for students who want to learn about graduate degree programs. The 1604 Campus fair is 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Tuesday, April 1 in the Humanities and Social Sciences Building foyer. The Downtown Campus fair is 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and 4-6 p.m., Monday, April 7 at the Frio Street Building commons. Prospective graduate students can speak with representatives from all of the UTSA colleges about program requirements, financing for graduate school and career opportunities. Alumni group hosts 'AuthorSpeak!' with UTSA's Wendy Barker

The UTSA Alumni Association will host "AuthorSpeak!" with Wendy Barker, UTSA poet in residence and professor of English, who will share her stories, experiences and poetry. The event is 5:30-7 p.m., Friday, April 4 at the home of Maxine Farrimond, retired UTSA manager of special events. "AuthorSpeak! is a series of gatherings for alumni and friends to meet authors of recent books and publications of interest to the community. Participate in campus services online survey

UTSA Business Auxiliary Services is conducting an online survey to measure customer satisfaction with many campus services. Take a few minutes to provide your input on dining venues and the bookstores, among other services. Your input will help provide better products and services. One survey respondent will be chosen at random to receive $50 in Rowdy Dollars to be added to his or her UTSACard after the survey ends. Be sure to enter your information at the end of the survey. Order now: New UTSA campus maps

The UTSA Office of Publications is accepting orders for new full-color 1604 and Downtown campus maps, which are produced annually in cooperation with the Office of New Student Admissions. The maps fold to a convenient pocket size and are a great resource for students and campus visitors. The updated maps include information about the university's history, campus features, academic programs and visitor tours. With 80,000 available, order maps in increments of 100 for $70. Submit orders with account number and delivery address (building and room number) via e-mail to Rita Marquez.

Female faculty, staff invited to 'Girls' Night Out' student event

UTSA Student Health Services and the student organization SHADES (Sexual Health, Alcohol and Drug Education for Students) will host "Girls' Night Out: Queen for a Night" from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, April 9 in the University Center Denman Room (2.01.28), 1604 Campus. Information will be available on sexual health and substance abuse, along with live entertainment, food and music provided free to UTSA female students, faculty and staff. Additionally, there will be manicures, massages, make-up tips, a tote bag decorating competition and a fashion show. The event goals include raising awareness regarding HIV/AIDS and other STDs, Hepatitis and women's wellness.

Licensing office offers low-cost research software

The UTSA Software Licensing Office (SLO) should be the first stop for faculty and staff members who are not sure how or where to purchase research software for themselves or their departments. UTSA holds campus licenses for several commercial software products that can be installed on UTSA-owned and -inventoried PCs at no cost to departments, faculty and staff. The software can be used without restriction for academic and research use; commercial and for-profit use is prohibited. Other software is available at a low cost.
