QEP pre-proposal deadline is May 15Sandra Welch, UTSA vice provost for accountability and institutional effectiveness, invites faculty and staff members to visit UTSA's Southern Association of Colleges and Schools-Commission on Colleges (SACS-COC) Web site. The site provides overviews of the two critical processes required for UTSA reaffirmation: Compliance Certification and the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP). On the site, faculty and staff can review the "Call for Pre-Proposals" section. A requirement of the reaffirmation process is to develop a QEP. The QEP Committee has called for pre-proposals for development of plans focusing on improvement of student learning; pre-proposals are due May 15. Download a letter from Sandra Welch with details. Teaching expert Barbara Millis visits UTSA April 21-23Nationally recognized teaching and learning expert Barbara J. Millis will speak on "Investing in Faculty and Teaching Assistance Development: Many Happy Returns" at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 22 in the Biotechnology, Sciences and Engineering Building Multipurpose Room (2.102) on the 1604 Campus. The lecture will be simulcast in Frio Street Building Room 2.508 at the Downtown Campus. After the lecture, there will be a Q&A session. Millis is director of the Excellence in Teaching program at the University of Nevada at Reno. Free and open to the public, the event is sponsored by the TEAM (Teaching Excellence, Advancement and Mentoring) Center. Millis will be at UTSA April 21-23 to assist with an ongoing review of the TEAM Center. In addition to her lecture, she will meet with faculty members to discuss their expectations for the future direction of the TEAM Center. UTSA community: Admission is free to ITC's HemisFair exhibitCelebrating the 40th Anniversary of HemisFair '68, UTSA's Institute of Texan Cultures presents a yearlong exhibit, "HemisFair 1968: San Antonio's Introduction to the World." UTSA students, faculty and staff are admitted to the exhibit at no charge with their UTSACard. Admission is $7 for adults and $4 for children, seniors and military with ID. Museum hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday, and noon-5 p.m. Sunday. The exhibit honors the museum's legacy as an original tenant of HemisFair Park as the Texas Pavilion in HemisFair '68. HOP conflicts of interest policy is updatedThe policy, 4.31 "Conflicts of Interest," was amended in the UTSA Handbook of Operating Procedures (HOP) to clarify the definition of "honoraria." OIT changes network password reset procedureThe Office of Information Technology (OIT) has installed a new identity manager (IdM) application. As before, if you need to reset or change your password, select the "Network Account Reset" button at the UTSA e-mail Web site. You will receive an e-mail notification from the IdM application if your password is successfully changed, is not successfully changed and when it is reset by the OIT Help Desk.
Volunteer experts are needed for speakers bureauThe Office of Student Activities needs volunteer speakers for the speakers bureau program. Through the program, student organizations will have a resource for speakers who will make presentations at no charge. It is a valuable service for the UTSA community, especially for organizations that do not have resources to pay speakers. If you are an expert in a topic and want to volunteer as a speaker, contact the Office of Student Activities at 458-4160.
