Employees must complete compliance refresher trainingIn February, all UTSA employees must complete compliance refresher training. Employees will receive an e-mail Feb. 2 with details on the required training, which will be completed online on MyTraining. The refresher training must be completed by Feb. 16. Accept the UT System Physical Activity ChallengeThe UT System is partnering with the Texas Round-Up Health and Fitness Initiative to sponsor the second annual UT System Physical Activity Challenge from Jan. 1 to April 18. UTSA's new 'Fast Facts' brochures are hereUTSA's "Fast Facts 2008-2009" brochures have arrived and are available at no cost. "Fast Facts" includes information on everything at UTSA from athletics to research centers. Request copies for departments and offices by e-mailing the Office of Public Affairs. UTSA begins Miller Plaza improvement projectRenovation began Thursday, Jan. 8 on portions of Bill Miller Plaza at the UTSA Downtown Campus. To be completed by June, the improvement project will include removing diseased trees, transplanting trees, refurbishing the lawns, installing an irrigation system and improving lighting. Barricades and warning signs will be installed around the circular walkway in the plaza to ensure pedestrian safety during construction. Read details on UTSA Today.
Downtown Campus housekeeping, maintenance staffs win holiday tree contestFacilities Services at the UTSA Tri-campuses conducted a holiday tree contest in December. Judges from outside the various departments picked the winners, rating the trees for creativity and originality. Since the contest began two years ago, the Downtown Campus housekeeping and maintenance staff members have won first and second place, respectively. The winning department received a trophy, "Arbol de Paz" (Tree of Peace), which is on display in the housekeeping staff break room in the Frio Street Building. >> View the winning trees: housekeeping staff tree (first place, at left) and the maintenance staff tree (second place).
