Employees must complete compliance refresher training

In February, all UTSA employees must complete compliance refresher training. Employees will receive an e-mail Feb. 2 with details on the required training, which will be completed online on MyTraining. The refresher training must be completed by Feb. 16.

Accept the UT System Physical Activity Challenge

The UT System is partnering with the Texas Round-Up Health and Fitness Initiative to sponsor the second annual UT System Physical Activity Challenge from Jan. 1 to April 18. The UT System institution with the greatest number of participants will be awarded the coveted Traveling Trophy.

Start training now for Diploma Dash, Feb. 21

The UTSA Recreation Center is sponsoring a five-week training program to get you in shape for Diploma Dash 2008. Start training now for the 25th annual UTSA Alumni Diploma Dash 5K San Antonio City Championship Race and Fitness Walk on the 1604 Campus, Saturday, Feb. 21 at the 1604 Campus.

HR classes teach discrimination, harassment prevention

The UTSA Office of Human Resources will present a series of free classes during the spring semester on discrimination and sexual harassment prevention. Supervisors and employees can sign up today for the interactive and dynamic classes at TXClass.

UTSA's new 'Fast Facts' brochures are here

UTSA's "Fast Facts 2008-2009" brochures have arrived and are available at no cost. "Fast Facts" includes information on everything at UTSA from athletics to research centers. Request copies for departments and offices by e-mailing the Office of Public Affairs. The brochures come in bundles of 100.

UTSA begins Miller Plaza improvement project

Renovation began Thursday, Jan. 8 on portions of Bill Miller Plaza at the UTSA Downtown Campus. To be completed by June, the improvement project will include removing diseased trees, transplanting trees, refurbishing the lawns, installing an irrigation system and improving lighting. Barricades and warning signs will be installed around the circular walkway in the plaza to ensure pedestrian safety during construction.

Downtown Campus housekeeping, maintenance staffs win holiday tree contest

Facilities Services at the UTSA Tri-campuses conducted a holiday tree contest in December. Judges from outside the various departments picked the winners, rating the trees for creativity and originality. Since the contest began two years ago, the Downtown Campus housekeeping and maintenance staff members have won first and second place, respectively. The winning department received a trophy, "Arbol de Paz" (Tree of Peace), which is on display in the housekeeping staff break room in the Frio Street Building.
