Join UTSA's 'Rock 'n Roll' marathon team: Race is Nov. 15UTSA faculty and staff members are invited to join the UTSA team participating in the Rock 'n Roll San Antonio Marathon and Half Marathon on Sunday, Nov. 15. A team organizational meeting is 1 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 4 at the Recreation and Wellness Center at the tables inside the north entrance (Student Health Services side of the building) on the UTSA Main Campus. Those who cannot attend but who want to be on the team should call (210) 458-6751 or e-mail wellness@utsa.edu. Sponsored by the UTSA Wellness pilot program, UTSA participants can save $10 if they register by Aug. 31. Faculty, staff invited to Aug. 5 bookstore open housesThe UTSA Bookstores management will host open houses from 1 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 5 at the Downtown Campus and Main Campus bookstores. UTSA faculty and administrative staff are invited to enjoy light refreshments, meet bookstore staff and look over the course materials available for fall classes. The open houses will provide the opportunity to check the bookshelves to ensure the correct textbooks are in place. Bookstore staff will be available to answer questions and assist with any concerns. OIT to update Windows PCs on Thursday morningsAs of July 30, the Office of Information Technology will "push" Microsoft updates to all Windows-based UTSA computers at 3 a.m. every Thursday. To receive the important updates, leave your Windows PC turned on -- log off but do not shut down your personal computer during the workweek. Main Campus construction, maintenance cause closures, outagesThere will be three closures or maintenance power outages in August at the UTSA Main Campus. A Biosciences Building rotunda entrance ramp will close Monday, Aug. 3 as a new southeast pathway opens. An intersection near the Physical Plant will be closed for repairs Aug. 7-10. University Center launches monthly newsletterThe University Center has launched the monthly newsletter, Center Points, to inform faculty and staff about UC changes and happenings. Check it out each month to learn about UC services and programs as well as event planning tips.
