To the UTSA community:
The University of Texas at San Antonio maintains a strong commitment to ensuring a campus climate that welcomes and promotes respect for all members of the university community. In our commitment to faculty, staff and students, the UTSA Office of Equal Opportunity (EOS) supports a learning and working environment that is inclusive and free of illegal discrimination and sexual harassment. Every member of the UTSA community is expected to comply with federal and state laws and with UT System and UTSA policies prohibiting sexual harassment.
EOS is the university office charged with investigating all internal claims of sexual harassment and recommending appropriate remedial action. If you feel that you are being subjected to sexual harassment or are aware of sexual harassment occurring at UTSA, contact EOS at (210) 458-4120. All faculty, staff and students have an affirmative duty to report these types of complaints to EOS.
If you or your co-workers have a talent that you would like to show off to the UTSA community, the third annual State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC) "UTSA's Got Talent" show is accepting entries for the 2009 event. The show is 2 p.m.. Friday, Oct. 23 in the Richard S. Liu Auditorium (2.01.02) on the Main Campus for UTSA faculty and staff members who have pledged to SECC. The deadline to submit entries is Friday, Oct. 9. A rehearsal will be Friday, Oct. 16. Download the "UTSA's Got Talent" entry form and read more on UTSA Today.
At 2 a.m., Sunday, Nov. 1, remember to set back your clocks by one hour as daylight savings time ends for this year. Employees working during the change to standard time will receive credit for nine hours worked for that completed shift and should be reflected on the employee time record. Schedule adjustments within the seven-day workweek may be made by department supervisors to prevent the accrual of overtime or state compensatory time hours.

For staff members who handle UTSA financial transactions such as accepting cash, checks or credit card payments, Fiscal Services offers a new required training course, AM560 Cash Handling 101. Sign up for the class in TXClass. If classes are filled, sign up for the waiting list and classes will be added.
The course covers the newly modified UTSA cash handling procedures. Read details at the Financial Affairs Web site (sections 4.1 and 4.1.1), which includes information on credit card security issues and two new forms to officially request permission to accept cash and to detail your department's security policy. All cash handlers must take the training course and each department must request permission to accept payments on behalf of UTSA, even if staff members have experience as UTSA cash handlers.
