About the College The College of Sciences at The University of Texas at San Antonio is quickly becoming a leader in research and science education. The college hosts more than 5000 students enrolled in twelve undergraduate and fourteen graduate programs. The six departments employ 130 tenure and tenure track faculty members committed to continually expanding knowledge in their scientific fields through research. The college offers advanced degree programs in every department including Ph.D.s in biology, chemistry, computer science, environmental science and engineering, and physics. Students are exposed to collaboration through programs with local external research institutions including UT Health Science Center, Southwest Research Institute and the Southwest Foundation for Biomedical Research. The College of Sciences understands that success in higher education begins well before the first day of university class. The college fosters science education in pre-college age students with programs such the ExxonMobil Texas Science and Engineering Fair (EMTSEF), and assists students pursuing education as a career through UTeach. Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education recently ranked UTSA 12th in the nation for awarding master’s degrees to Hispanic students and fourth in the nation for bachelor’s degrees. |
