Minority Access to Research Careers Undergraduate Student Training in Academic Research is an NIH/NIGMS funded honors research training program that assists underrepresented and disadvantaged undergraduate Jr/Sr. level students to gain quality research and professional development experience.

Minority Biomedical Research Support - Research Initiative Science Enhancement is an NIH/NIGMS funded research training program that supports underrepresented and disadvantaged students while they are training towards advanced degrees in Biomedical Research.  At UTSA, the RISE program supports students at three levels: Fr/Soph, Jr./Sr. and Ph.D.  Comprehensive, level specific, and progressive training takes place in all programs.

Minority Biomedical Research Support - Support of Competitive Research is an NIH/NIGMS funded faculty development program that financially assists eligible UTSA faculty in developing their research programs.  Faculty submit applications for either pilot and more advanced projects, to develop a foundation required for development of successful NIH RO1 or other mainstream funding.

The Research Center for Minority Institutions (RCMI) program, funded by the NIH, is designed to enhance research capabilities at minority serving institutions.  RCMI supports several types of "core" activities on the UTSA campus, including imaging, proteomics and bioinformatics research, and faculty development activities.  UTSA faculty submit applications to the RCMI program, for submission as part of the RCMI program grant. 
Sloan Foundation Fellowships

The UTeach Program UTSA's seeks to address the critical shortage of high school mathematics and science teachers facing our community.  It allows undergraduate UTSA students to take an enriched instructional curriculum and gain direct experience teaching in a HS classroom, at no cost to themselves.  Advising and scholarships are available to assist students towards the goal of earning a teaching credential.  http://www.utsa.edu/UTeach/index.html

Director Dr. Janis Bush
Teaching and Research in Environmental Ecology at UTSA.  Fellowship in Conservation and Natural Resources.  This fellowship is for underrepresented minority students who are interested in a career in conservation and natural resources.  The program offers funding, field and laboratory research, workshops in study skills, technical writing, and Leadership, interaction with roll models.  Provides summer funding for undergraduates, and year-round support for M.S. or Ph.D. students.
Summer Research Experience for Pre-Meds

Not currently active. The  CRTS Summer Research Experience for Pre-Medical Students Program provided Summer financial support for undergraduate students in 2008.  Those supported include those who plan to pursue Medical Degrees, to obtain research training and experience on the UTSA campus.  Other activities such as instruction in professional skills, field trips to graduate and medical schools, StrengthsQuest training, and creation of scientific posters. 
UTSA/CRTS Postbaccalaureate 
Not Currently Active.  Tthe CAS Postbaccalaureate Program provides one year of financial support for a recent "underrepresented" B.S. graduate who requires additional research experience to gain admission to a UTSA doctoral program.
