The UTSA Freshman/Sophomore MBRS-RISE Program.  Incoming freshmen with a strong interest in research as a career (and eventual pursuit of a Ph.D.!) should take advantage of this fantastic opportunity!  Ten students from groups that are underrepresented in the sciences will be selected to participate in an intensive 2 year program that will build their skills biomedical or chemical research.  Participants can be majoring in Biology, Computer Science, Physics and Chemistry.   Students will be paid as they train and will work part time during the school year and full-time in Summer.  As they progress through the program, greater research responsibilities will be attained, until students are working in an actual UTSA research laboratory with a faculty mentor.  Along the way, they will learn professional and leadership skills in various program activities.  More information available at:  http://www.utsa.edu/mbrs/fsrise/fsrise.htm .
