Time-Dependent Mechanical Properties of the Lens Capsule
The ocular lens capsule may be the most important material in accommodation. While accommodation is a dynamic process, all published data are for purely static testing. Dr. Reilly proposes to use novel techniques to apply controlled dynamic forces to the lens capsule while monitoring their deformations using high-speed cameras. Inverse numerical methods will then be used to estimate the mechanical properties.
