Application Workshops:
All students planning to apply for Fall 2012 admission to medical,
dental, or veterinary school are encouraged to attend one of the
following application workshop sessions. Each session will review some
of the basics behind preparing for and/or completing online
applications, personal statement writing, the committee letter process,
and interviews. Additionally, UTSA students who are currently attending
medical or dental school or will begin their first semester at medical
or dental school this fall will share their experiences regarding the
application process.

Illinois College of Optometry (ICO)
– A Day in the Life: What’s it like at optometry school?
You are invited to view ICO’s web series, A Day in the Life, a 12
episode documentary style series takes viewers inside the life of a
first-year ICO student. From move in- and the first exam through the
rite of passage ceremony where first years receive their white
clinic coats.
The
episodes are being released one at a time over the course of the
next couple of weeks, and all of them will be housed on ICO's

The purpose of the "Choices" newsletter is to
help medical students understand specialty and residency options.

Opportunities Available: Students interested in finding shadowing opportunities in podiatric
medicine are encouraged to access The Association of American

MCAT Practice Test 11 now available at

Practice Test 11 is a full-length, online
exam containing newly released MCAT items that previously appeared
on the actual exam. While nothing can compare to real test
conditions, taking an online practice exam under timed conditions
can give students a good idea of how she or he might perform on test
day. Students can use one practice test to get a baseline, create a
study plan, then come back to take another test to check progress.

Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine
Pre-Professional Internship Program:
The Pre-Professional Internship
Program at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine (OCPM) is designed
to provide insight into the many facets of podiatric medicine and
the education involved with obtaining the Doctor of Podiatric
Medicine Degree. The internship offers a one or two week experience
in the months of January, June and July. Student interns rotate
through the following departments in the Cleveland Foot and Ankle
Clinic: General Medicine, Podiatric Medicine,
Orthopedics/Biomechanics, and Podiatric Surgery. Interns may also
observe podiatrists at the Cleveland Veterans Affairs Medical
Center. A typical day includes open clinic observations and
department rotations with OCPM students and faculty clinicians.
Interns will also participate in workshops on admissions, financial
aid, student activities and the first-year experience as well as
social events in the Cleveland area. For more information please
