Health Professions Day 2016 - Thursday, February 25
(February 2016)— UTSA’s University Health Professions Office (UHPO) will host the 26th annual Health Professions Day from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm on Thursday, February 25, 2016. The event will be held in the University Center (UC) Galleria on the UTSA Main Campus.
UHPO invites UTSA, local area college and high school students, and community members to attend this event. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with representatives of 70+ health professions programs. The event is free and open to the public.
Last year, over 500 students attended this event and had the opportunity to gain information about admissions requirements, selection factors, and application procedures for various health professions programs. Students were able to learn about a wide variety of programs with representatives from Medical, Dental, Pharmacy, Physician Assistant, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, and other programs in attendance.
This year’s event will feature round-table discussions on becoming competitive Medical, Dental, or Nursing applicants. Students are encouraged to attend these roundtables to connect directly with schools, including Texas Tech University Health Science Center, UT Austin-Dell Medical School, University North Texas Health Science Center, University of the Incarnate Word, UT Health Science Center San Antonio, UT Houston Health Science Center, and many more.
Panel discussions on preparing for careers in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant, and Pharmacy will also take place during the event. Additionally, a panel featuring perspectives about successful admission into competitive health profession programs from experienced students will allow attendees to understand what preparation is required.
Visitor parking will be available in short-term spaces, for a small fee, in the Ximenes Avenue Garage and the Bauerle Road Garage.
