Any currently enrolled UTSA undergraduate student who has a 2.75 or better GPA and is in good standing may participate in this study abroad program.
Students must register for one of the following courses: ARC 1413, CSH 1213, or HON 3233.
All program participants must complete the UTSA Study Abroad and Honors College Study Abroad Program applications. The UTSA application is available at the UTSA International Gateway. This application must be completed by February 15, 2012. The Honors College application is available here. This application must be completed by November 28, 2011.
All program participants must have a current passport. To get a passport, contact the nearest post office for forms or get them on line at USPS.com.
All program participants must have health insurance. If you do not have health insurance, UTSA’s Office of International Programs can provide you with a list of short-term health care providers for students who will be traveling abroad.
All program participants must attend the UTSA Office of International Programs Pre-Departure Program. This will be held sometime in April.
All program participants must attend the Honors College Study Abroad Orientation Meetings. These will be held in March and April.
The major source of scholarships for UTSA Study Abroad Programs is the UTSA International Education Fund. The deadline for applying for these scholarships is February 15, 2012. When you fill out the UTSA Study Abroad Application you will also be able to complete the scholarship application. Please check with UTSA Colleges for International Program Scholarship opportunities (e.g.: the College of Liberal and Fine Arts – Bowen Scholarships, College of Business International Program Scholarship).
Check with the UTSA Financial Aid Office to see if you can use financial aid to assist in paying program costs.
$4,950 – includes airfare, room (Residence Candia in Rome), some meals, all in country transportation costs, all museum/attractions costs.
Tuition and fees for a three credit class (note that some fees will be waived), passport, meal costs, spending money.
A deposit of $500 will be due by November 28, 2011. If one withdraws from the program by January 12, 2012 this deposit will be refunded minus a $50 processing fee. After January 12 the deposit is non-fundable.

Please note that if one withdraws from the program after February 12, 2012 no refunds can be made as airline tickets and other payments to vendors will have occurred.
