The Honors ConceptThe UTSA Honors College provides a unique educational experience for academically talented students with a commitment to excellence. The Honors College is open to students from all academic disciplines. The Honors Classes include special sections of regular courses with smaller enrollments and interdisciplinary seminars that bring together advanced students from diverse disciplines. Most honors courses meet Core Curriculum or major requirements. Honors course do not require more work, but rather work that is enriched to encourage intellectual exchange and individual thought. Most honors students can graduate from the Honors College without any extra time requirements. Throughout a student's program of study, the Honors College emphasizes breadth of academic experience. In the junior and senior year, honors students also become more focused in a particular academic discipline. Upper-division honors work typically culminates in a senior honors thesis or senior honors project under the direction of a faculty member from the student's major department.
